St Peter's Church Gallery

1st December - Advent Service

On Sunday 1st December we marked the beginning of Advent with a special Advent Service prepared by Rich for the occasion. During the service the first advent candle on the advent wreath was lit.

'Be A Star' collection for the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal - 30th November. The Donations then delivered on 1st December.

Once again, the villagers of Catcott and the surrounding area were very generous in their giving. Some donations were collected from homes by members of the CVA, whilst other people arrived at the Church with their bags and boxes of contributions. It all remained there over night, and for the Advent Service the next day .......

..... and on Sunday 1st all the donations were transported into Street, where they were warmly recieved at the Salvation Army Hall.

St Peter's Coffee Morning October 2024

Once again we were warmly welcomed into a home in Catcott for our monthly Coffee Morning. We are very fortunate to have so many people offer to open their homes to welcome villagers for a cup of tea/coffee and cake (often some scrummy sausage rolls too) and it is such a lovely way to chat to people you don't see that often, or catch up with friends. Everyone is welcome, and it is just £2 for a drink and cake. Proceeds go to support St Peter's church.

Harvest Sunday 2024 - 6th October

We celebrated Harvest at St Peter's on Sunday 6th October. Rich led the service in the morning, and he spoke on Deuteronomy 24 verses 19-22, reminding us to care for 'the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow', expanding it to relate to the Bridgwater Foodbank Collection that all the Polden Wheel Churches have once again had a focus on. After a tea/coffee and a chat, the Church remained open to receive further donations to the Foodbank, and we were once again reminded of the generosity of Catcott villagers.
These photos show how  the Church had been decorated to highlight the season, and the good food we are so fortunate to have, and the donations that we later recieved. They are now all boxed up, and ready to be delivered.
We will continue to have the Foodbank box in the Church Porch as usual, for those off times when folk would like to donate throughout the year.

'Soup and a Pud' a light Harvest lunch held at the Village Hall Edington on 5th October 2024

This was the first time we had tried such an event, and as you can see from the photos, it went pretty well really! There was plenty of food, and chat. We had hoped for a few more people, but it was a good way to see how we could do. Maybe next year again? If so, we hope the word will spread.
